Discussion of TSC recommendations

Discussion of strategic goals for LFN and Anuket specifically, and how we have not delivered on the original goals.  The hyperscalers have become more important in the telecom ecosystem.  Pankaj.Goyal notes a number of operators mention "CNTT conformance" in their specifications.

LFN has been focusing on giga-projects in recent years, might want to work on smaller more focused projects to gain support and be more effective.  There are huge costs related to testing that got lost in the project details.  We need to align the specifications with the testing (test driven development), because the testing is the value add to the operators and vendors.

Talking points to be shared at the SPC meeting 12/12

  • We haven’t delivered on the commitments from the merger. – See diagram.
  • We lack a clear, agreed upon value proposition that is aligned with the needs of our industry (meaning BOTH operators and suppliers).
  • Operators fail to see compelling reason to specify Anuket in RFPs.
    • To date, we have not demonstrated a fully functional environment based on Anuket
    • How does the Operator benefit from adopting Anuket specifications? – Need to reduce costs and time to market.
    • How does the Supplier benefit from adopting Anuket specifications? Need to reduce costs and time to market.
  • Our Specifications and code are hard to adopt.
    • Define the min skillset of an implementer, then build docs (cookbooks) to that level.

  • We have a conflict between the standards necessary to keep the org healthy, and the desire of technically inclined to work on the technology.
  • We are struggling with how to keep our infrastructure supporting our needs. Rules often prevent regular updates and maintenance to the servers we depend on.
  • We lack the ability to see past our own company’s needs and focus on the outcome for the industry. The ability to trust in each other to work toward the common goal must be part of our DNA.
  • We have differences of opinion regarding the purpose and value of the TSC. (Leadership)
  • Gig-projects have taken over.
  • We aren’t perceived as “cool”.
